I dream of Venice

City of Venice, Italy

Venice of Singapore, Orchard Road

The landscape of Orchard Road Shopping Belt has changed drasticly overnite. It now has river flowing into the shopping centres and underground linkways.

We are hoping to see waterfalls in future. :)

Aerial view of Orchard River

Dah macam naik ferry!

We are proud to be the host country for YOG 2010

Cute water buggies...so cute!

Orchard River will be the new water sport venue for YOG 2010

Traffic lights by the river. Swim, don't walk!

No fishing here. There's no fish.

Starbuck by the river

Cheap car wash

We have the technology to build underground linkway river

The car that could transformed into a mini-submarine

This car reminds me of the above

Buses are like dragon boats

Selain dari Sungei Singapura, Sungei Kallang & Sungei Road, kini terdapat lagi satu sungei yg amat besar dan kotor sekali! - Sungei Orchard Road!

What's the fuss??

Graffiti on the MRT train

Mwahahahaa!!! MRT kena conteng dgn graffiti!!

MRT vandalism: Swiss national to face charges
Suspect could faced up to 3 years jail or a $2000 fine for vandalism and caning.

SINGAPORE - A 33-year-old Swiss male national who is alleged to have broken into an SMRT depot and vandalised a train will be charged in court today.

He faces a charge of trespassing into a protected place and two charges of vandalism. - Today paper, 5 June 2010.

Source: http://www.todayonline.com/Singapore/EDC100605-0000105/MRT-vandalism--Swiss-national-to-face-charges

"The vandals did us a FAVOUR by probing our security of a very vital infrastructural facility. They had in effect conducted an 'AUDIT' of the security system and found it wanting." - Reader's comment.

"Instead of punishing the Swiss and his confederate the SMRT and Singapore govt should in fact THANK them for showing up the weak points. SMRT should be 'punished' by being made to run the train with the graffiti intact all over to show the commuters where and how it has failed them!

The graffiti writers are like the hackers on the internet - they probe to show up where weaknesses are. In fact, some net companies even PAY them to test their web security." - Reader's comment.

Ishh..isshh...I really shouldn't be making fun out of this. But actually, aku respect betol with the cheeky act! It took the authorities off guard and really shows there are still loop holes in the transport security management.

Biler kawan aku beritahu pasal hal nie, the 1st question that triggered on everyone's mind was - "What the hell happened to our security system??"

They spent millions of dollars upgrading and enforcing tight securities around the island, but yet 1 dumb ass could sneaked in and create havoc. :)

Oh yes! He should be punished for the vandalism act. But should the authorities be penalised too for security lapse?? - So, that remain a question as for now.

Sad he was made a scapegoat to cover up their sillyness!

Kunci pintu depan, pintu blakang lupa nak kunci. Bodoh betol org2 gomen nie...tu pon ader hati mintak bonus lebih! :D :D :D

ps: They emphasize on the possibilites, but had underestimated the impossibilities.

Dari sebuah negara dunia ke-3, Singapura melonjak naik menjadi menjadi 1st world country kurang dari setengah abad setelah kemerdekaan.

Budget Lemao!

Bedebar-debar aku tunggu budget FY2010. Of course ler, sumer orang mengharapkan budget yg memberangsangkan sempena situasi ekonomi yg semakin baik nih..

Berkecai kepala otak dia!

Wak pula cerita kan aku, ader sorang tauke nie terjun dari tingkat 12 terus landing atas keter mercedes dia sendiri. Berterabuh isi perot dia!

Kat sini, orang-orang tua kena kerja sampai dia orang mati. Kalo tak kerja, lebih baik mati sudahh..
Ko tengok jer bill hospital yg semakin naik memuncak. Tapi remedi yg dikongsi hanyalah medisave-top-ups yg belom tentu cukop menampung cost rawatan yg berkali-kali ganda mahalnya.

Orang Singapura kater, kalo sakit, biar ajer terus mati. Jgn masok hospital. Kalo masok hospital kena bayar duit bill mahal. Pastu stress, sakit jantung dan tetap jugak mati!

Harga rumah yg meningkat dgn mendadak akibat pembajiran pendatang asing yg sama-sama berebut nak beli rumah. So, saper yg ader banyak duit, bole beli dgn harga yg mahal. Yg tak mampu beli rumah, bole cucok tent dan tido kat tepi laut.

Cerita orang2 yg hidop merempat takde rumah kat singapore...
http://www.mrbrown.com/blog/2010/02/nparks-officers-go-on-blitz-at-changi-beach.html

Harga bill air api naik akibat harga minyak yg meningkat justeru menaikan segala cost operasi harian. Pastu biler mintak tolong ngan MP, kena vote dia dulu. Baru dia nak tolong...tolong tulis surat ajer. Ehehe...

Transportation cost jugak naik tak agak-agak walopon khidmat pengakutan awam masih kurang bermutu. Ko naik ler MRT, aper ko rasa? Malas aku nak cakap lagii ahh...

Alaaahh...kalo aku nak ceritakan sumer, banyak lah masalah yg belom terhurai lagi.

So, pendekatan belanjawan kali ini agak lemao, bukan kerana takde cash give out, tapi tak banyak membantu golongan yg terhimpit.

Ianya lebih condong kearah reviving the economy, particularly in the business sectors, yg berharap dpt meningkatkan GDP singapura utk tahun yg akan datang, supaya nanti dorang ader modal nak bobal dabik dada sebelom election nanti...yg tengah merana skrg adalah si rakyat oiii..

Generally, there's nothing to look forward to the FY2010 budget. There's nothing much really..!

Kalo ler skrg buat GE, aku bole bet confirm kalah besar! Pasal ramai aku dgr tk happy dgn belanjawan tahun nie...huhu.

Apa yg merepek ke pepek pasal belanjawan tahun nie...

The Malay Phenomenon

Do you know the recent Singapore Idol contest has brought 1 good thing about the malays?

The common social stigmas that have always linked the malay race are, they are lazy, stoopid, laid back, nuisance, problem-makers, has no self-pride, nothing better to do except breeding and making babies.

The above, are untrue.

When Singapore produced '3 Malay Idols' consecutively in the last 3 seasons, I soon began to realise other races are making remarks and begin to feel uncomfortable, fear and inferior about what can this small group of malay community can create.

This is not about Sezairi nor Sylvia. Its about a 'certain' ethnic group bashing the malays for being racists when it comes to voting.

Unlike the other first two idol winners, I felt sorry when Sezairi won the crown with much critisicm than Taufik or Hady.

There was no short of musical talent in him, but he was much hated and virtually abused, simply because he's a malay!!

When Tabby was ousted from clinching a place in the final, public started to rally remarks about racism and defaming the 14% malay population in singapore, had 'apparently' voted for that malay boy.

And why so much fuss malays being KINGS of Idols?

Just read those hatred messages, wall posts, on the fanpages, the media, the blogs. The malays were being accused for supporting their own skin colour and not about talents. Being a malay myself, I felt that statement was outrages.

Click here: http://cyberita.asia1.com.sg/mrencana/story/0,6879,153943,00.html

Well, like the chinese and other races, there are as many malays whom are also fan and loyal supporters of Sylvia (including me).

Go to Sylvia fanpage. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Sylvia-Ratonel/151030292233?ref=ts

Infact, the malays have never instill such hatred remarks whichever ethnic race or gender that reaches the final.

The malays are always supporting for the best talents, and never because of their own creed nor the colours of their skins.

Jaclyn Victor & Daniel Lee Chieh Hun, are the champions for 1st & 2nd Malaysian Idols seasons respectively, in a country largely dominated by malays. But both are not malays. But the malays voted for them because of their talents. So, malays are not racist afterall!

But why must racial slur be the reason this time round?

Reading thru the comments posted on twitters, facebook pages and forums, I concluded that the non-malays in Singapore have striked a common bond among themselves. They finally proclaim the malays, have shown their potential to outwit & outlast other races by staying united.

Malays, in general, is a community that embrace togetherness, tolerance, teamwork and close bonding. Unlike others, malays STILL practise social respect among our eldests and still know what common courtesy is.

These seeds have been planted within our social & cultural roots from generations to generations. Now they have to envy us for that.

I'm disappointed that Sylvia has not won. But Sezairi has brough the malays to another level that demand respect and dignity from the community.

MALAYS ARE UNITED. =)

ps: I purposely did not write this post in malay, because i want others to read and understand their own shortcomings.

Singa Pondan

Mermaid - Duyung

Merlion - Singa Pondan

Pada suatu hari, di dalam kelas...

Cikgu Ahmad: Saper tahu apa nama patung singa yg berada di tepi muara sungai Singapura. Berkepala singa dan badan seperti ikan duyung...?

Kelas menjadi senyap seketika. Murid-murid cuba memikirkan jawapanya, ader pula yg cuba membayangkan rupa patung itu.

Tetapi Noranzor tak berhenti-henti bebual dgn kawannya disebelah.

Cikgu Ahmad: Eh Noranzor! Awk dari tadi asyik bebual ajer ya. Cuba jawab soalan saya tadi. Apakah nama patung yg berkepalakan singa dan berbadankan seekor ikan duyung?

Noranzor tersentak. Mata dia terkebil-kebil sambil berfikir.

Noranzor: err...kepala singa...err...badan duyung eh cikgu?

Seluruh kelas menantikan jawapan dari Noranzor dgn ghariah sekali...

Noranzor: oh..itu SINGA-PONDAN, cikgu!

Kami ketawa terbahak-bahak, termasok Cikgu Ahmad sekali. =)

Al-Fateha utk Allahyarham S.Sgt Noranzor.

*O.U.F ~ KICKED OUT!!!

To me, when National Day comes, it's not about watching the parade, it's not about gazing at the fire works displays, it's not about singing the National Day songs...

I would like to remind myself that, 9th of August is the date when Tungku Abdul Rahman made Lee Kuan Yew cried.

And so the story begins. But history has not ended yet....

Jom ponder....

Statistic shows, Malays made up only a pathethic 18% of the population in this chinese dominated island. But during NDP, i observed 40% of the spectators, who came to watch, are Malays!

ps: Truly, Singapore has progress...but not in everything.

*O.U.F - Out You F*ckers!
