The common social stigmas that have always linked the malay race are, they are lazy, stoopid, laid back, nuisance, problem-makers, has no self-pride, nothing better to do except breeding and making babies.
The above, are untrue.

When Singapore produced '3 Malay Idols' consecutively in the last 3 seasons, I soon began to realise other races are making remarks and begin to feel uncomfortable, fear and inferior about what can this small group of malay community can create.
This is not about Sezairi nor Sylvia. Its about a 'certain' ethnic group bashing the malays for being racists when it comes to voting.
Unlike the other first two idol winners, I felt sorry when Sezairi won the crown with much critisicm than Taufik or Hady.
There was no short of musical talent in him, but he was much hated and virtually abused, simply because he's a malay!!
When Tabby was ousted from clinching a place in the final, public started to rally remarks about racism and defaming the 14% malay population in singapore, had 'apparently' voted for that malay boy.
And why so much fuss malays being KINGS of Idols?
Just read those hatred messages, wall posts, on the fanpages, the media, the blogs. The malays were being accused for supporting their own skin colour and not about talents. Being a malay myself, I felt that statement was outrages.

Well, like the chinese and other races, there are as many malays whom are also fan and loyal supporters of Sylvia (including me).

Infact, the malays have never instill such hatred remarks whichever ethnic race or gender that reaches the final.
The malays are always supporting for the best talents, and never because of their own creed nor the colours of their skins.
Jaclyn Victor & Daniel Lee Chieh Hun, are the champions for 1st & 2nd Malaysian Idols seasons respectively, in a country largely dominated by malays. But both are not malays. But the malays voted for them because of their talents. So, malays are not racist afterall!
But why must racial slur be the reason this time round?
Reading thru the comments posted on twitters, facebook pages and forums, I concluded that the non-malays in Singapore have striked a common bond among themselves. They finally proclaim the malays, have shown their potential to outwit & outlast other races by staying united.
Malays, in general, is a community that embrace togetherness, tolerance, teamwork and close bonding. Unlike others, malays STILL practise social respect among our eldests and still know what common courtesy is.
These seeds have been planted within our social & cultural roots from generations to generations. Now they have to envy us for that.
I'm disappointed that Sylvia has not won. But Sezairi has brough the malays to another level that demand respect and dignity from the community.
MALAYS ARE UNITED. =)
ps: I purposely did not write this post in malay, because i want others to read and understand their own shortcomings.
